Man dies trying to save 2 dogs from drowning in Okanagan Falls

Emergency crews on the scene of what turned into a fatal drowning on June 20.

A man who went into the Okanagan River, after his two dogs, drowned near Okanagan Falls on June 20.

Despite life-saving efforts by first responders, the man was unable to be resuscitated. 

Multiple paramedic vehicles, fire departments and RCMP crews responded to the scene. 

Efforts to revive the man went on for over an hour.

According to posts on social media, the man had gone into the river in an attempt to rescue his two dogs after they chased a deer.

The two dogs also drowned, and their bodies were recovered on June 21 and 22.

The Willowbrook Fire Department and the Okanagan Falls Fire Department both responded to the scene.
