Lead feet lead two drivers to losing their vehicles and a large chunk of change in separate incidents in Sicamous.
Just after midnight on May 16, police noticed a vehicle travelling at an excessive speed exiting the Bruhn Bridge headed east on the Trans-Canada Highway.
鈥淭he speed limit in the area is 60 km/h while the officer obtained a radar speed of 111 km/h,鈥 Sgt. Murray McNeil said in a press release, adding the driver was given a $368 fine for excessive speed and his SUV was impounded for seven days, which carries a cost as well.
At 11:30 p.m. on May 19 of the long weekend, Sicamous RCMP noticed a Ford Mustang going an excessive speed on Highway 1 near Yard Creek in Malakwa, which was confirmed by the officer to be 165 km/h in a 100 km/h zone.
鈥淭he driver, a resident of Surrey, was stopped and issued a $368 ticket for excessive speeding while his vehicle was impounded for a period of seven days.鈥
