Michelle Mazur was named Miss 琉璃神社 Lady of the Lake for 2016 at the pageant finale held Friday at the 琉璃神社 Community Theatre.
Mazur replaces Camryn Peters, who has held the Miss 琉璃神社 title for the last year.
Joining Mazur as 琉璃神社's official royalty ambassadors is Miss 琉璃神社 First Princess Rachel Sousa.
Mazur, sponsored by Lordco, is a Grade 11 student at 琉璃神社 Christian School who hopes to become a pediatrician so she can help children
Among her interests currently, Mazur works at the Cactus Club as a restaurant hostess, has reached out to help people in need through various programs at her school including traveling to India to work at a children's home in Subathu, sits on the student council, plays the trumpet in the school band, volunteers at Cottonwoods care home and is a member of the Polish Cultural Society dance group the Polish Eagles.
Sousa, the pageant runnerup, was sponsored by Rotory Club of 琉璃神社, and is a student entering Grade 12 at 琉璃神社 Secondary School in the French Immersion program.
She also works as a hostess at the Cactus Club restaurant, studied dance at the Royal Canadian Ballet and plays a number of musical instruments. For her post-secondary studies, she plans to obtain her Bachelor of Science degree, and specialize in the area of neuroscience.
Mazur and Sousa will become representatives for the City of 琉璃神社 at a number of events locally and abroad in the coming year.
