Students, staff and parents of a Penticton elementary school had a traumatizing start to the day on Monday.

An email sent home to parents explained that two adults were found unresponsive on the school field of Queen鈥檚 Park Elementary around 8:10 a.m.

The adults on the ground were not members of the school community.

When school administration were made aware of this situation, they 鈥渞esponded quickly and calmly to redirect students away from the location.鈥

Emergency services including RCMP and ambulance were also quick to respond and the two were taken to Penticton Regional Hospital.

In the email to parents, the two individuals were still alive when taken to Penticton Hospital according to the paramedics who responded.

Any parents concerned about this incident or have further questions is asked to reach out to the principal.

According to Penticton RCMP, there was no criminality to the incident. Some witnesses on social media questioned whether this was a pair of overdoses, but both police and school administration would only confirm it was a medical emergency.
