In conjunction with the City of Revelstoke, WSP Engineering, and Speers Construction, Revelstoke Mountain Resort is excited to reopen Camozzi Road.

The snow is piling up, lifts are almost ready to roll and Revelstoke Mountain Resort is welcoming the world to share in another fabulous year of winter activities.

And getting up to the resort has just become a lot easier and safer as Camozzi Road is open again.

鈥淲e want to express our gratitude to Speers Construction, our contractors, and our dedicated team for their hard work executing this complex project within a tight timeframe,鈥 said Peter Nielsen, vice president of operations and general manager of Revelstoke Mountain Resort. 鈥淭o the community and visitors who navigated the detour during this period, your patience and support have been truly appreciated.鈥

Equally enthusiastic about the road re-opening is acting Mayor Austin Luciow.

鈥淚鈥檓 excited to see the benefits of this improved traffic flow to and from the resort; plus, with the completion of the realignment, the regular flow of traffic can resume to the resort,鈥 he said. 鈥淭he benefits of this project, tied together with the multi-use pathway along Nichol Road, allows for active transportation to and from the resort for employees, tourists, and our community."

Originally conceived as a multi-phase project spanning two or more years, the team, with WSP as lead engineering consultant and Speers Construction as prime contractor, worked diligently through challenging weather and complex geotechnical conditions to limit road closures and disruption to a single construction season.

The Camozzi Road upgrades include enhanced resort access and upgraded water and sanitary services to Mountain Road. A new multi-use pathway to accommodate foot traffic and bike access will open in 2025, ensuring safer and more convenient access to the resort for pedestrians and cyclists.

It took an 鈥渁rmy鈥 of partners working together to complete the complex project in such a short timeframe: Revelstoke Mountain Resort, City of Revelstoke, WSP Kamloops, Spears Construction, GeoPacific, Associated Environmental Consultants, and DMD & Associates Electrical Consultants Ltd.

Safety and efficiency were top of mind as road realignment provides more direct access to the resort from the Nichol Road roundabout and the addition of a new roundabout at Mountain Road will improve traffic flow. Visitors will find parking easier with the more than 300 new paved parking stalls.

Sanitary and water lines servicing mountain roads, the resort base area and beyond were upgraded, including Camozzi Road South and McInnes Road, while improved BC Hydro infrastructure will support future resort upgrades and improved reliability.

A paved parking and drop-off/transit loop has been designed to enhance the arrival experience and improve local and visitor access to the resort. Street lighting through the village core will enhance the ambience and reduced speed limits will make the resort experience safer.

The light, fluffy white stuff has been piling up 鈥 260 cm as of Nov. 18, with an average annual accumulation of 10.5 metres.

On Nov. 30 skiers will be welcomed to the mountain鈥檚 3,121 acres of world-renowned terrain that features North America's longest descent as well as wide-open alpine bowls and endless glades.

As daylight wanes and tired but happy skiers descend, great food and accommodation await.
