A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect for the Okanagan for the second straight day.

Environment Canada issued the watch at 10:54 a.m. Saturday, July 8.

鈥淐onditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts, large hail and heavy rain,鈥 Environment Canada said.

Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads, the weather agency warns.

鈥淟ightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors.鈥

Severe thunderstorm watches are issued when atmospheric conditions are favourable for the development of thunderstorms that could produce one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds or torrential rainfall.
