An undercover drug project, which spanned over a period of two months, was a huge success with a staggering number of suspects arrested who now face countless potential drug related charges.
The 琉璃神社 RCMP Downtown Enforcement Unit (DEU) partnered with RCMP undercover operators from other jurisdictions to conduct the undercover operation which targeted the drug trade in 琉璃神社. During a period of ten days over the months of April and May undercover operators posed as buyers to purchase drugs from dealers.
鈥淎ll together, investigators arrested a staggering 39 suspects alleged to have sold a variety of illegal drugs including heroin, crack cocaine and methamphetamine to the undercover officers,鈥 said Const. Jesse O鈥橠onaghey, in a press release.
鈥淎s a result, the 39 suspects face as many as 59 counts of trafficking in a controlled substance under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act."
Depending on their history, the suspects were either held in police custody and taken before the Courts or released and expected to appear in Court on later dates facing their potential charges.
