Trooper stages first major concert at Royal LePage Place.

Trooper helped set the stage tonight with the first of what is likely to be future concerts at West 琉璃神社鈥檚 Royal LePage Place.

The legendary Canadian band performed before more than 1,400 at the arena, the first concert of that ticket sale magnitude held at the facility since it first opened in 2007.

Promoter Mike Schell said it took this long to happen because the smaller seating capacity scared of concert promoters.

But despite some hitches such as long beer line-ups and sound system blips, Schell was happy with the crowd support, taking the stage during Trooper鈥檚 set to present lead singer Ra McGuire with a West 琉璃神社 Warriors hockey jersey and announce the concert is also serving as a fundraiser for West 琉璃神社 Minor Hockey.

Trooper, who played at the inaugural Rock The Lake festival last summer in the Prospera Place parking lot, will be back again in the Okanagan this summer to perform in Penticton at the Peach Festival on Aug. 10.
