Pedestrian hit in Vernon crosswalk

A pedestrian was hit in the 4400 block of 27th Avenue Tuesday, June 25.

A pedestrian was struck trying to cross the road on a busy street Tuesday morning.

RCMP and BC Ambulance Service were called to the crash around 11 a.m. June 25 at 44th Avenue and 27th Street.

"The driver of a northbound vehicle failed to yield to the pedestrian in the crosswalk," said Cpl. Tania Finn, Vernon North Okanagan RCMP media relations officer.  "The pedestrian was struck, knocked to the ground and sustained non-life threatening injuries."

The pedestrian was taken to Vernon Jubilee Hospital as a precaution.
