A hold and secure at Kalamalka Secondary School was extended to Kidston and Coldstream elementary schools as well Friday, June 21, 2024.

A suspicious person cycling in Coldstream with a possible weapon led to three schools being put on a hold and secure pattern, Friday.

Vernon North Okanagan RCMP were advised of the individual around 1:15 p.m., June 21, cycling along Kalamalka Lake Road.

"As police responded to the area, the local schools, Kalamalka Secondary, Kidston Elementary and Coldstream Elementary, were contacted and police requested a Hold and Secure be put in place while police patrolled for the suspect," said Cpl. Tania Finn, media relations officer.

Police caught up with the individual a short time later and determined the firearm was a pellet gun.

The schools were notified that the threat was unfounded and the hold and secure was lifted.
