The Penticton Western News has moved back to downtown Penticton.

The team is back in town.

After a brief absence from the downtown, the Penticton Western News has a new office space on Main Street.

The Western News and its sister paper, the Summerland Review, are sharing a location at 205-301 Main St., Penticton.

Earlier this year, the Western News had operated out of the Summerland Review offices in Summerland for around seven months. The move to Penticton represents a journey home.

鈥淎fter covering the news and happenings in Penticton for more than five years, I look forward to once again writing from the heart of the city,鈥 said Brennan Phillips, senior reporter at the publication.

Karen Hill, group publisher for Black Press in the Okanagan, said the Western News remains dedicated to serving Penticton and the surrounding area.

鈥淥ur commitment to the community will continue to be steadfast in providing local news and happenings to the residents of Penticton through our website, newsletters and newspaper,鈥 she said.

The Penticton Western News has been a community presence in Penticton since 1967. For most of that time, the paper has had its offices in or near the city鈥檚 downtown. The original location was on Westminster Avenue, which was followed by a move to Front Street. Prior to the move into Summerland, the Western News had been based on Main Street, just two blocks away from its new location.

Over the years, and especially since the 1990s, the Western News has been a presence at news and events around Penticton, and has also been a sponsor of community events.

The paper is published each Friday. In addition, content is continuously posted to its website at pentictonwesternnews.com.

The return home shows a renewed commitment to Penticton, a city experiencing vibrancy and growth.
