A girl who has been on life support since being hit by a truck in Vernon is making progress.

Lynza Henke has been in BC Children's Hospital since the July 20 incident.

While she is still in the Intensive Care Unit, her family is grateful for all the support.

"Prayers are being answered and she is trying to breath on her own," reads an Aug. 6 update from the family who owns Vernon Teach and Learn. "We wait for the day she opens her eyes."

The family has immense praise for the nurses at the hospital, whom have spent hours trying to salvage some of Lynza's hair.

"We are so thankful for all the help and our place at Ronald McDonald house."
