The town of Princeton will use $45,000 from the Community Resiliency Investment Program FireSmart Grant to purchase structure protection equipment for the community.

The funding came from a two-year grant from the Union of B.C. Municipalities Community Resiliency Investment Program. The program fully funds Princeton鈥檚 FireSmart program.

The grant submission includes the purchase of a trailer, equipment and supplies for the Structure Protection Unit trailer for the community, over four years. The $45,000 equipment purchases are the third year of investment.

The money will be used to purchase, sprinklers, hoses and other equipment.

The budget has funding to cover the costs of the purchase, with no funds needed from the tax base. However, council approval is required for any capital purchases over $20,000.
