UPDATE 8:33 A.M. - The evacuation alert has been lifted for the Cinnabar Creek wildfire.
The alert had been in effect for Lake Okanagan Resort, Camp Owaissi and Camp Mewata.
"Ground crews made good progress overnight on the 2.8-hectare fire just off Westside Road," states Central Okanagan Emergency Operations.
"They will continue working on the fire with available resources today."
The scheduled 6:30 a.m. opening of Westside Road been delayed. It鈥檚 now anticipated that Westside Road will open at about 8:30 to single-lane, alternating traffic through the fire zone just north of Lake Okanagan Resort and south of Denison Road. Calm winds and cooler temperatures overnight provided good conditions for fire crews working on the 2.8-hectare Cinnabar Creek wildfire off Westside Road.
About 20 B.C. Wildfire Service firefighters, along with crews from the Wilson鈥檚 Landing, North Westside and West 琉璃神社 departments conducted patrols throughout the fire zone.
"No problems were reported," states Central Okanagan Emergency Operations.
The evacuation alert for the Cinnabar Creek wildfire remains in effect for Lake Okanagan Resort, Camp Owaissi and Camp Mewata. Residents and visitors must be prepared to leave with short notice should fire conditions change. The status of the alert will be reviewed as the day progresses.
