Though no alcohol was detected, a suspected impaired driver in Salmon Arm is facing a court date for other infractions.
At 8 p.m. on Sept. 3, the RCMP received a report of a suspected intoxicated driver in a burgundy van. Officers responded to the area and located the van, which immediately pulled into a driveway after seeing the police vehicle.
"The officer approached the vehicle and observed the driver attempting to move to the passenger seat," Const. Andrew Hodges said in a media release. "The driver was well known to police to be prohibited from driving, the van also had no insurance."
A breath demand was conducted but no alcohol was detected in the sample.
The man was, however, issued a violation ticket of $598 for having no insurance, served a future court date to speak to the charge of driving while prohibited under the motor-vehicle act and the van was impounded.
