Sicamous RCMP are investigating the second murder to hit the community in 2024, with Major Crimes en route.

Sicamous RCMP are investigating the small community's second homicide of 2024, with the Southeast District Major Crime Unit currently en route from 琉璃神社.

At approximately 5 a.m. on Wednesday, June 19, police and BC Ambulance were called to a residence in a Hillier Road mobile home park where a woman was reported to be in medical distress.

"Police attended with ambulance and located a deceased adult female victim," Sgt. Murray McNeil said. "Circumstances of her death are deemed suspicious, and foul play is suspected."

He added that police arrested a man at the scene who "remains in police custody."

"This is an isolated incident, there's no further danger posed to the public in Sicamous," McNeil reassured.

Major crimes will be leading the investigation into the woman's death, and no further information regarding the identity of either the victim or suspect will be released at this time.

This is the second homicide to rock Sicamous in the last four months, with a shooting at the Best Western on Feb. 24 still under investigation, and the third in less than a year after a body was found on Aug. 5, 2023.
