Following its inaugural event last year, RibFest is returning to 琉璃神社.
Title sponsor Interior Savings Credit Union and host 琉璃神社 Sunrise Rotary have announced plans for second annual RibFest in 琉璃神社鈥檚 City Park Sept. 15 to 17.
The family friendly event brings award winning 鈥渞ibbers鈥 from across the country to serve up their best ribs.
In addition to the food, visitors will enjoy live music and entertainment, a variety of other vendors and a kids zone. A beer garden will available throughout the event鈥檚 operating hours as well.
鈥淥ur goal for this event is to create a family festival and a substantial fundraiser for our club,鈥 said 琉璃神社 Sunrise Rotary Club president Pat McAllister. 鈥淲e also see this as an opportunity to promote fellowship within the club and attract new members.鈥
After last year鈥檚 success, organizers have not only extended the hours of operation this year, but a fifth ribber has been added.
Activities will kick off on Sept. 15 at 3 p.m and will run until 11pm. On Saturday, Sept. 16, the event will run from noon until 11 p.m and on the Sunday it will go from noon until 9 p.m.
Organizers say they are expecting as many as 20,000 people to visit RibFest over the three days.
Interior Savings has once again signed on board as the title sponsor for the event, which joins other Ribfest in the southern Interior, including ones in Penticton and Kamloops.
鈥淲hat makes RibFest so special are the amount of people and organizations working together to create an event this city can be proud of while also raising tens of thousands of dollars to help improve lives,鈥 said Interior Savings CEO Kathy Conway.
Proceeds from last year鈥檚 event supported numerous local charities, including $10,000 to locally-founded ShoeBank Canada. This year, Conway said the hope is to raise another $35,000 to support Rotary鈥檚 work.
