Salmon Arm RCMP are looking for the owners of three recently recovered dirt bikes believed to have been stolen.
The bikes were found in wooded areas over the last five days, said Const. Andrew Hodges in a Thursday, April 25 media release. One of the bikes was recovered on April 21 from a trail near the end of 9th Avenue NE in Salmon Arm. The other two were recovered in the same area on April 25.
Anyone with information regarding the bikes is asked to contact Salmon Arm RCMP. The bikes may be claimed within 90 days by providing a detailed description, referencing file 2024-2477 and 2024-2401.
Hodges noted property crime has become a focal point in communities throughout the province.
Thefts from residences and motor vehicles are often crimes of opportunity, with thieves taking advantage of items left in plain sight or unattended,鈥 said Hodges. 鈥淐riminals seek out the easiest target for break-ins and there are steps we can all take to prevent these crimes.鈥
Police are encouraging residents to keep a 鈥9 p.m. routine鈥 that includes removing all valuables 鈥 including keys and garage door openers 鈥 from vehicles, locking vehicle doors, not storing anything of value outside, locking up outdoor buildings and primary residence doors and windows, and turning on exterior lights and alarm systems.
