Salmon Arm’s Glynis Sim is on a runner’s high after earning a win and a personal best in the 2024 Vancouver Sun Run.

With a time of 32:17, Sim, 26, was the top finisher among the more than 20,000 female runners competing in the 10-kilometre event held in Vancouver on Sunday, April 21.

Another Salmon Arm native, Sandra Kilmartin, placed 19th with a time of 35:16.

The top overall time went to Quebec’s Thomas Fafard with a time of 28.45.

For Sim, the Sun Run result was a continuation of a series of personal bests achieved this year, including a 1st-place time of 33:23 in the 10K Cobble Hill race on Vancouver Island in January, and 15:37 in the St. Patrick’s Day 5K in Vancouver in March.

Following the Sun Run, Sim said the result was a surprise, and credited coaching and the support she’s received for her success.
