Volunteers from the North Okanagan are joining the search for Cache Creek鈥檚 fire chief.

Members of Vernon Search and Rescue left early Saturday morning to travel to Cache Creek, where Clayton Cassidy went missing after checking creek levels.

鈥淚t鈥檚 an absolutely terrible situation,鈥 said Pete Wise, Vernon SAR search master.

The 59-year-old Cassidy was reported missing Friday morning. His last known whereabouts were checking creek water levels and his vehicle was also found at the location.

Vernon SAR is providing its mobile command trailer and swift water resources.

鈥淲e will be doing a bank search but it can be dangerous (because of unstable banks),鈥 said Wise.

Wise knew Cassidy.

鈥淗e is a well respected member of the rescue community. he just award a provincial award for his service to his community and the province,鈥 said Wise.
