UPDATE: Highway 97 south of Oliver reopens following serious crash

Emergency crews respond to collision at Road 22

RCMP responded to a serious crash on Highway 97 south of Oliver on Wednesday, July 31.

UPDATE (3:35 p.m.)

Highway 97 south of Oliver has reopened in both directions, DriveBC says.

South Okanagan RCMP said a serious crash took place at Road 22 early Wednesday morning.

ORIGINAL (9 a.m.)

Police say a serious crash has closed Highway 97 south of Oliver "indefinitely" on Wednesday, July 31.

South Okanagan RCMP and emergency crews responded to the collision at Road 22 at around 8 a.m., and remain on scene as of 9 a.m.

DriveBC says the road, located about nine kilometres north of Osoyoos, is closed in both directions.

Southbound motorists are to detour at Ryegrass Road, then south on Black Sage Road, and back onto Highway 97 at Road 22, police added.

Anyone who witnessed the collision is urged to contact the Oliver RCMP at 250-498-3422.
