Chase RCMP responded to a report of assault with bear spray at loud party in Seymour Arm on Aug. 5.

Someone poked the bear, which resulted in an assault the Chase RCMP were called out to handle.

At 1:15 a.m. on Aug. 5, an assault was reported in Seymour Arm, where attending officers found two people who had been bear sprayed, and several others affected by indirect exposure. Police then learned the dispute had originated at a party with loud music.

"Apparently, a neighbour took it upon himself to deal with the music by removing a power cord," Const. Van Wilgenburg explained in a media release. "One of the partiers attempted to retrieve the power cord and bear spray was deployed."

One man was arrested for assault with a weapon but released at the scene with a future court appearance.

"Alcohol was involved," Van Wilgenburg confirmed.
