Chase RCMP recovered a stolen ATV (quad) after the driver failed to keep it rubber side down.

On Oct. 9, the detachment received a report of a "suspicious circumstance" on Hlina Road in Celista, with the caller reporting that he'd woken up to find a small ATV had landed upside down in his backyard sometime overnight.

Officers investigated and determined the quad likely went off Meadow Creek Road above the property, bounced down the steep embankment and came to a stop beside the driveway.

"No one was found in the area and there was no indication that anyone had been injured," Const. Sarah Van Wilgenburg reported in a media release. "Police conducted VIN checks and located the registered owner who advised the quad had been stolen some time ago."

It was recovered with the assistance of a local tow operator and returned to the rightful owner.
