Chase RCMP respond to a multi-faceted call involving assault, a gun and an impaired individual.

On June 22 at 2:13 a.m. officers were dispatched to the beach in Chase for a report of a disturbance.

"The initial information indicated that an assault had occurred, there was a person injured and someone had a gun," Const. Sarah Van Wilgenburg said in a statement. "Police attended and found a woman with a very painful ankle injury."

She was taken to hospital by ambulance, and police were that she'd sustained the injury while trying to intervene in a physical confrontation between a man and another woman. The man had apparently also made "veiled threats" while carrying a firearm in its case, but he had left before police got there.

The officers then provided a courtesy ride to a very intoxicated young woman to ensure she got home safely, but the situation went downhill from there.

"In her driveway, she lunged at police without provocation and then kicked a police officer in the face," Van Wilgenburg explained. "She was arrested for assault and lodged in the drunk tank."

Officers later located the man with the gun and arrested him for various offences, including uttering threats. He was released with a future court date for the matter, which is still under investigation.
