A road trip to Mara resulted in the Sicamous RCMP recovering stolen property and seizing a significant amount of drugs.
On May 24, officers went to a rural property on Poirier Road after receiving reports of stolen items being stored there. While speaking with a male resident, the police noted a large, new RV behind the house 鈥渨hich the resident had no explanation for.鈥
鈥淭he trailer was confirmed to have been stolen from an RV business in Salmon Arm in February of this year,鈥 Sgt. Murray McNeil said in a media release. 鈥淎n enclosed utility trailer was also noted on the property which was reported stolen from Calgary.鈥
The two trailers were towed from the property and searched at a secure location, revealing further stolen goods as well as drugs. The utility trailer contained a stolen Yamaha snowmobile, a Giant Trance X mountain bike valued at $4,000 that had been stolen in Salmon Arm, and numerous power tools that were taken from BC Hydro.
鈥淭he 33-foot RV was searched, which resulted in the seizure of a large amount of illegal drugs,鈥 McNeil said. 鈥淥ne hundred and three grams of cocaine, 29 grams of fentanyl, multiple fentanyl patches, drug scale, a device to jam radio signals and a prohibited firearm silencer were seized, as well as various amounts of unknown drug tablets.鈥
Police are continuing to investigate the possession of stolen property and seizure of the drugs, but the resident of the property, a 41-year-old male, has not been charged with any offence at this time.
