Sicamous RCMP responded to two back-to-back incidents involving drugs, with one resulting in the seizure of cocaine.
At 1 a.m. on May 16, officers stopped a vehicle heading east on Highway 1 near Gill Avenue just after the Bruhn Bridge. The vehicle, which had been reported for failing to stop for police in Salmon Arm days prior, was occupied by two females from the city.
鈥淭he officer detained both occupants, which led to a search of the vehicle,鈥 Sgt. Murray McNeil said in a May 28 news release. 鈥淎 package containing 43 grams of cocaine was located in the front seat area along with other evidence of drug trafficking.鈥
The two women were released at the scene while police continue to investigate the matter.
The following morning, May 17, at 8 a.m., the RCMP received multiple calls about a man on Riverside Avenue jumping fences between condo buildings and trying to open parked vehicles.
鈥淧olice located a man matching the description on Riverside Avenue near Temple Street. A search of the man located 3 grams of Fentanyl,鈥 McNeil said in the statement, noting the amount exceeds the 2.5 grams allowed under decriminalization.
The 31-year old man of no fixed address was arrested for trespassing and public intoxication, and was transported to cells.
