White smoke continued to rise up at around noon

Smoke rising from the Penticton Speedway became visible around 11:30 a.m. on June 29.

A plume of smoke rising up from the area of the Penticton Speedway was visible from across the valley on June 29.

The burning rubber this time though was benign, and came from drift racers currently using the track.

The white, light smoke continued to rise up around noon, well after it first became visible.

A little over five years ago, a thick plume of black smoke erupted after a fire spread from a camper that was being worked on to a nearby pile of tires.
