A water advisory for parts of Okanagan Beach in Penticton has been lifted.

A swimming advisory at Okanagan Beach in Penticton was lifted on Saturday, July 27.

In an update at 2:45 p.m., city officials said the water advisory — issued between the S.S. Sicamous and just west of Power Street — is no longer in effect.

The section of the beach closed Friday afternoon, July 26, after a sample test identified higher-than-normal levels of E.coli bacteria.

Issued by the city in conjunction with Interior Health (IH), the advisory said bacterial levels were higher than those allowed in Health Canada’s Guidelines for Canadian Recreational Water Quality.

Signage that warns against swimming in the area is currently being removed, the city added in its update.
