UPDATE 11 a.m.
The winter storm warnings have come to an end for the Coquihalla Highway and Highway 3.
Environment Canada ended the alerts at 10:54 a.m.
Original
Winter storm warnings are in effect for the Coquihalla Highway from Hope to Merritt and Highway 3 from Hope to Princeton on Wednesday, Jan. 10.
Both stretches of highway are expecting 5-10 cm of snow throughout the day, however, because of an approaching Arctic front and a low pressure system, the Coquihalla could experience an additional 10-15 cm of Wednesday night.
鈥淰isibility will be suddenly reduced to near zero at times in heavy snow and blowing snow,鈥 said Environment Canada in the alerts. 鈥淲eather in the mountains can change suddenly resulting in hazardous driving conditions.鈥
Travellers should consider postponing non-essential travel until weather conditions improve.
Black Press Media will update throughout the day.
