North Vancouver house was a week away from being move-in ready

Police are looking for the vandals who poured more than 15 cans of paint throughout a home that was under construction in North Vancouver.

The contractor arrived Tuesday morning, police said, to find that someone had broken in overnight and spread paint all over the walls, appliances, counter tops, the hardwood floors, toilets, inside the fridge, and the carpeted stairs.

The homeowners were ready to move in, in about a week.

Damage is estimated to be well over $80,000.

"This appears to be a break and enter with intentional malicious willful damage displaying a total disregard for someone鈥檚 personal property," said Cpl. Richard De Jong. Someone out there will have paint on themselves from throwing that much paint around and likely will be boasting about their criminal behaviour.

Anyone with information is asked to call North Vancouver RCMP at 604-985-1311 or at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS), referencing police file #2016-21047.
