Two youth had a high-flying experience along Kalamalka Lake Monday.
Vernon Search and Rescue received a report of two 16-year-old boys stranded on a rock cliff along the Okanagan Rail Trail at about 3 p.m.
鈥淭hey had got part way up and they started slipping. They couldn鈥檛 go up and they couldn鈥檛 go down,鈥 said Leigh Pearson, search manager.
The pair were about 60 feet above the ground so SAR decided to use its helicopter winch to lower a member and then remove the teens.
鈥淚t worked really well,鈥 said Pearson.
Pearson is urging caution when residents consider going rock climbing.
鈥淭hey had no equipment, no ropes. Go with someone who is experienced and can teach you the skills,鈥 he said.
