Vigil for Ecuador earthquake victims

More than 700 people were killed in an earthquake that struck the South American country of Ecuador in April.

UBC Okanagan students have organized a vigil this weekend in support of the victims of an earthquake that struck the South American country of Ecuador in April.

The vigil is also being combined as a fundraiser, set to take place on Sunday, 6 p.m., at Stuart Park in downtown ÁðÁ§ÉñÉç.

Behind organizing this event are Apapacho Latin American Student Association, other UBCO international students, UBCO student union and ÁðÁ§ÉñÉç's Global Minga
.

In mid-April, a 7.8 magnitude earthquake hit Ecuador, killing more 700 people. Thousands more were injured and became homeless. Aftershocks and a second earthquake in May, registering 6.7, added to the country’s struggle to recover.

All donations will go directly to communities affected through Global Shapers Quito, and there is a website to give donations, h
