It鈥檚 a chance to experience First Nations culture and celebrate the natural land around us.

The sncewips Heritage Museum and Westbank First Nation invite community members to attend the 27th annual s铆ya蕯 celebration on Friday, June 2, 2017.

The s铆ya蕯 celebration provides an opportunity to honour the land, resources, and the achievements and hard work of school children as they near the end of the school year. This year, the public is invited to attend and experience traditional syilx dancing, drumming and singing, as well browse local arts, jewelry and crafts for sale.

The first annual s铆ya蕯 celebration took place in 1990, when Westbank First Nation School (now Sensisyusten House of Learning) first opened, and was later named to s铆ya蕯. Since time immemorial, syilx people have celebrated natural land resources, and this celebration is one way that syilx people continue to do so. We welcome the public to share in our very special tradition.

The 27th Annual s铆ya蕯 celebration takes place June 2 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Pine Stadium, 1900 Quail Lane, Westbank, BC.
