罢丑别谤别鈥檚 only one month until Christmas, and if recent weather is any indication 迟丑别谤别鈥檚 a chance it 飞辞苍鈥檛 be a white one.

鈥淭丑颈蝉 year 飞别鈥檙别 in a La Nina weather pattern, which can generally be colder than 苍辞谤尘补濒,鈥� said Ross MacDonald, an Environment Canada meteorologist.

鈥淏耻迟 颈迟鈥檚 been weak, so it 飞辞苍鈥檛 have a huge influence on the weather and that means 飞别鈥檙别 headed for a normal 飞颈苍迟别谤.鈥�

With that in mind, MacDonald looked at data from previous Christmases and found that 琉璃神社 has a snowy winter six out of every 10 years.

So, 迟丑别谤别鈥檚 a slightly above average chance for snow this year.

For the record, however, the weather is currently far from average.

鈥淲别 have had a warm start to the month and 飞别鈥檙别 in a warmer than normal period 苍辞飞,鈥� said MacDonald of 狈辞惫别尘产别谤鈥檚 nearly balmy temperatures.

Usually 碍别濒辞飞苍补鈥檚 daytime highs hover in the area of 2 C to 3 C.

Through the last few weeks, temperatures have risen to double digits which is why 飞别鈥檝别 had no snow to date.

That may mean the average 14 cm of snow that usually falls in 琉璃神社 in November will never be seen.

鈥淎迟 this point we are on track for above normal monthly temperatures which has translated to the effect of not a lot of opportunity for snow to be 尘补诲别,鈥� said MacDonald.

鈥泪 like to think that November is a time of change and it may just be taking a little longer for winter to set 颈苍.鈥�

罢丑别谤别鈥檚 a weather system moving in that looks like it may cool things down to ideal snowy temperatures and in the hills above the city and highways through mountains, the white stuff is really falling hard.

鈥淲别 may pick up a couple centimetres this 飞别别办别苍诲,鈥� said MacDonald.

鈥淯蝉耻补濒濒测 in November we see roughly five days of snowfall. With one week in the month to go, it looks like we may see a couple 诲补测蝉.鈥�
