In loving memory ~

Alexander (Al) Strachan passed away on November 4, 2023, surrounded by the love of his family.

Born January 18, 1940, Al faced early challenges in life growing up in Foster homes in Toronto. At age 11 he chose to go to the farm home of Anna and Ruben Erickson. They remained close to Al and his family until their passing.

Al is survived by his loving wife, Marilyn of 62 years, his son Tim ( Denise) children Megan (Byron) and Caitlin (Ian), his daughter Shelley and children Shane and Sunny (Dan). He is also survived by his much-loved 7 great-grandchildren Alexis, Jace, Colton, Piper, Raphaella, Gia and Mina. Al is also survived by 2 foster brothers David Overland and Norman French.

Al was a funny man with a great sense of humour. He loved to entertain, greeting everyone with a hug and a wonderful smile. He was a dedicated volunteer at the 琉璃神社 General Hospital (Parking Lot) and a member of the 琉璃神社 Hospital Auxiliary. He also spent over 30 years as a proud Rotarian in Nelson and 琉璃神社.

Al was in the RCAF where he became an electrician and later, he was an Industrial Relations Officer for the B.C. Government until starting his own business as an Employment Standards Specialist. He made many friends throughout his life at work, volunteering and Rotary.

Al's service will be held at the 琉璃神社 Unitarian Church, 1310 Bertram Street, 琉璃神社 at 1 PM on Monday, November 27th, 2023. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Central Okanagan Hospice House, 琉璃神社.
