August 5, 1929 - September 19, 2023
In Loving Memory ~
Anne Marshall passed away peacefully on September 19, 2023, surrounded by her family. She had celebrated her 94th birthday just 6 weeks prior. She lived the past 3 1/2 years at Village at Mill Creek Baptist Housing, 琉璃神社, BC, but now calls Heaven home.
Anne is survived by her children Colleen (Greg), Gene (Cindy), Jeff (Lori), and Lindsay (Gord); son-in-law Bruce (Eileen): as well as by eleven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Gordon in 2022, and her daughter Patricia "Pam" in 1989.
Born in Sydney on Vancouver Island, BC on August 5, 1929, Anne was the eldest of four children. She had two sisters, Leonie and Sheila, and a brother, Peter. The Reed family moved multiple times (Vancouver, BC; Winnipeg, MB; Anaheim, CA, USA).
When Anne was a teenager, they finally settled in 琉璃神社, where Anne caught the eye of Gordon when they rode the bus together to 琉璃神社 High School. They were both from orcharding families, and after they married in 1950 they worked the land in Glenmore and Winfield, side by side. Anne also worked the home garden.
Anne was a hard worker and raised five children along the way. She was an avid seamstress and knitter, by necessity, and an awesome cook and baker. Their holiday feasts were legendary.
Anne enjoyed watching all sports, travelling around the world, and solving jigsaw puzzles; she adored spaniels; and she took great delight in bragging about her roller-skating skills and jumping curbs. She loved being in the sunshine by the pool drinking Coca-Cola and made quite a statement in her bathing suit.
Anne was the quieter one of the couple, and this worked well, because often it just took a look from her and the problem was solved. Anne loved her children and treated them with respect and care. She encouraged them to work in the orchards for spending money, and she desired independence for them all.
She welcomed the sons- and daughters-in-law as they arrived on the scene. Her home was open to all.
Anne's legacy of love, caring, kindness and generosity will carry us forward as we learn to live without her day-to-day presence in our lives. We are so happy that Mom and Dad are now together once again.
Many thanks to the staff at Village at Mill Creek, the Joseph Benjamin wing. They cared for her in every way. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, www.jdrf.ca/give, or a charity of your choice.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, September 30, 2023, at 2:00 pm (PDT), at The Cathedral Church of St. Michael & All Angels, 608 Sutherland Avenue, 琉璃神社, BC. With a reception following at the church, in the Percy Tinker Room. Livestream: www.youtube.com/watch?v=c2VRiM1qnvM
