In Loving Memory ~
Bea was born to parents Helen and Preston Fraser in Charlottetown, PEI, the oldest of three daughters. Bea's family moved to Nova Scotia in her early years and resided primarily in the Bridgewater area except for a few years spent in Sydney, Nova Scotia.
Later, after having married Edgar Harlow and having 4 children, Bea, Edgar, the kids, and the family dog moved from Nova Scotia to 琉璃神社, BC to find a better life for the kids. This was a tough time for Bea, having left behind her family, community, and support systems. In true Bea form, she made the best of it, finding new community and making good friends in 琉璃神社, where she spent over 40 years prior to relocating to Penticton in 2013.
Prior to having children and moving west, Bea was a schoolteacher. In 琉璃神社, she put those skills to good use by volunteering in the kid's schools and becoming a Lecturer/Leader for Weight Watchers for over 25 years.
Anyone who knew Bea will remember her sharp sense of humor and joviality. Right up to the end she was tossing out zingers, making us all smile. Bea was also famous in her community for her home baked cookies and knitting projects. Sitting in Bea's kitchen, grabbing a freshly baked cookie from the ice cream pail on the counter and chatting while the knitting needles clacked away was a safe place for any and all of us. This special time will be cherished and missed dearly.
Bea's greatest joy was her children and family. She was a great Mom to all four children and Grammy to Kate. She provided great support, encouragement and was always, always there for us when we needed her or wanted advice.
She will be forever loved and missed by Kevlan Harlow (Carol), Sherri Harbaruk (Neil and Kate), Barb Harlow (Bob), and David Harlow (Leslie). Bea leaves behind her youngest and beloved sister, Joan Oickle (John) of New Germany, NS, and nieces Janice Oickle-Potyondy (Alex and Brandon) of Halifax and Patricia Oickle (Jason) of Springhill NS.
Bea has been predeceased by her parents Helen and Preston, her sister Phyllis Acker (Lew) and husband of over 40 years, Edgar.
In lieu of flowers, the family wishes donations would be made to the Diabetes Canada Association or Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada in Bea's name.
A Celebration of Life will be held for Bea from 1:00-3:00pm on Saturday, August 10, 2024, at Providence Funeral Home located at 1258 Main Street, Penticton, B.C.
