April 24, 1941 - October 18, 2023
Brian passed away peacefully on October 18, 2023, at the age of 82 years.
He was predeceased by his parents, Katherine (nee Blackman) and Francis, his brothers James, Patrick, Leo, Austin, Tom and sisters Jean, Sheila, Theresa and Geraldine as well as the mother of his children, Ilse (Elsie) (nee Huber).
Brian will be deeply missed and remembered by his two sons, Matthew (Debbie) and Nathan along with his three grandchildren, Samuel, Alexandre and Clara, his sister Shirley and a large extended family.
Born in Provost, Alberta, Brian was the youngest in a family of 11 children. After obtaining a degree in psychology from the University of Notre Dame in 1970, meeting Elsie and completing a teaching certificate, he worked in Vancouver and then moved to Prince George. There, he and Elsie raised their two sons and Brian spent 18 years teaching high school science and math.
Brian didn't sit still in his retirement, when the family moved to 琉璃神社, doing a variety of different jobs over the years. Brian had a strong faith which guided his sense of social justice and compassion for those who are marginalized in society. He would often connect with others through his musical talents with guitar and piano and his love of humour.
Prayer service and viewing will take place on Saturday, November 4th at 10:00 am followed by a mass at 11:00 am. Both services will take place at Corpus Christi Church, 750 Rutland Rd N, 琉璃神社, BC.
