Doris passed away peacefully at the age of 98 at Cottonwoods Care Home, 琉璃神社 B.C. on February 9th 2022.
Doris Marie was born in Calgary Alberta. and is the daughter of the late Frederic McBean and the late Grace Moodie.
She is predeceased by her twin sister Norma McBean, brother Allan McBean and his wife Esther, and her mentor and travel companion Eugenia Chapin.
She will be remembered by her nieces Linda Lambe and Karen McBean and her nephew Kenneth McBean as well as grand nephews and niece.
Doris taught commerce in many schools in B.C.; in Duncan at Cowichan High School, Salmon Arm, Vanderhoof and finally office administration at Okanagan College in 琉璃神社 until she retired.
Doris was confident, caring, friendly and outgoing. She was an inspiration to her students. She wanted them to succeed to the best of their abilities. Life was never sedentary for Doris. She loved to travel the world.
For many years she opened her home to foreign students whom she cared for as family. She kept in touch with most of her students, some even became close friends.
With her busy schedule she found time to refinish furniture and keep a beautiful home and manicured flower garden.
Her favourite pastime was enjoying her many poodles especially her last companion, three-legged Duff.
Doris will be missed by many. The interment will take place at a later date at Union Cemetery in Calgary. A tea will be organized for her friends later.
