In Loving Memory ~
We are sorry to announce that Doug passed away suddenly and unexpectedly, just one month before his 88th birthday. Doug was born in Bridgewater, Nova Scotia to a Canadian soldier and his British war bride.
He was predeceased by his parents and two sisters. He leaves his wife Helen, daughter Kristal (Brian), son Pete (Natalie), and granddaughters Kacey and Kailyn.
Plus numerous nieces and nephews throughout the Atlantic provinces.
He spent his entire career with RBC Bank, although the bank gave him a "fun" assignment for his final three years. He was seconded to the Canadian Banker's Association to oversee the design and application of a website for the online storage and distribution of stocks and bonds.
On retirement, Doug and Helen bought a fifth-wheel trailer and headed for Florida, where they promptly acquired another "fun" job. This one was inspecting and rating campgrounds in the Atlantic Provinces for a US-based campground directory.
After several years they decided it was time to head for the place they always intended to retire to — British Columbia, and they settled in ÁðÁ§ÉñÉç where, unable to sit and do nothing, they started volunteering.
Doug volunteered for many years with COACH, the cardiac rehab group, the ÁðÁ§ÉñÉç Museum, and the Airport Ambassadors. He also had a love of travel, and they spent most winters Home Exchanging in Australia and cruising wherever the weather was warm.
Due to Covid rules, there will be no public service at this time. Cremation arrangements in care of Everden Rust Funeral Services, (250) 860-6440. Condolences and memories can be sent to the family by visiting everdenrust.com
