March 4, 1927 - March 1, 2020
Funny, witty, a keen interest in others, lover of a good party, family meant everything to her and she meant everything to so many - this is how we will always remember our wonderful Mom.
Ev had a childhood of adventure growing up in the 'dirty 30's' in Kindersley Saskatchewan with her parents Jack and Kathleen and brother Ron and Norm.
Ev met Don, the love of her life, as well as many life-long friends when she moved to Winnipeg to study nursing and work at the Misercordia Hospital. Ev and Don were married over 67 years and shared a true love that was an inspiration to us all.
Ev and Don raised their three boys Bill, Jack and Tom in Charleswood - curling, hockey and golf kept the family busy. Ev was happy to welcome her daughter-in-laws Susanne and Gayle into her family of boys.
Life was never dull with Ev and her 'Stitch and Bitch' friends whether dressing in their finery for corn field garden parties or decorating gold toilets for anniversary gifts.
In retirement, Ev and Don moved to 琉璃神社 and, no surprise, made a whole new group of friends. Ev thrived in retirement; getting her first hole-in-one well into her eighties, being a proud member of the Wonderful Wedgewood Women and channeling her creative side making crafts for the hospital and sewing each of her precious grandchildren a very special quilt.
Ev's relationships with her grandchildren - Tyler, Reagan, Parker, Sean and Lauren - and their partners Sonja, Ashley, Jillian and Scott - as well as the great-grandchildren - Sophia, Emma and Nash - are a perfect reminder of the love she leaves behind, and will be remembered by many.
Ev left this world peacefully on Sunday March 1, 2020, just 3 days shy of her 93rd birthday. Sharp of mind to the last hours, she expressed her gratefulness for all life had given her and we are so thankful to have had her in our lives. Ev is survived by her loving husband Don.
In memory of Ev, donations to the Friends of the Canadian Museum for Human Rights or the Cancer Society would be greatly appreciated.
