KozarPic

With sad hearts we announce the sudden passing of Gloria Kozar on August 16, 2016 at 琉璃神社 General Hospital.  With a caring attitude she lived for 81 years, being born on June 11, 1935 and raised in the Interlake area of Manitoba.  Moving to the city of Winnipeg at a young age she worked various office jobs until marriage, going west and having two children, Rodney (1968) and Marla (1971) with Alex Kozar who passed in 2013.  Spending the majority of her life in British Columbia she made the West 琉璃神社/Westbank community her home since 1976.  In her forties she embarked on a career as a Licensed Practical Nurse helping others and using her skills as a caregiver to support those in need.  After nursing she did some casual work and became more involved with volunteering through various service groups.  Whether bobbing in a RCMP boat on Okanagan Lake, being at Interior Health departments or greeting travellers at the 琉璃神社 airport she was always helpful and enjoyed the social interaction.  She occasionally golfed, walked for exercise and as her mobility declined Gloria crocheted, did some baking and participated with friends in the activities at The Heritage residence where she lived for the last two years.  Having travelled to many areas on the planet, as in her personality Gloria was open to differences and really liked to fly as a mode of travel.  With an independent spirit she still drove her little car all over the Central Okanagan with the radio always tuned onto the country music station that she liked. Predeceased by her parents Peter and Mary Chreptyk and baby sister Patricia, Gloria is survived by her sisters Lovie, Bonnie, Zenith and Muriel of Gimli, Manitoba and brothers Ben and Michael of Winnipeg, Manitoba and Kincardine, Ontario respectively. We sincerely thank the staff at 4 West for their compassionate care as they helped us guide her through her last few days of life in this world.  She will be deeply missed by her children and grandchildren, Jonah, Sedona and Dominic. A interment service will be held on Monday, August 29 at Lakeview Memorial Gardens, 2850 Dry Valley Road, 琉璃神社 at 1:30 PM.  Being summertime, dress casual and celebrate her life with us at Sunset Ranch Golf & Country Club, 5101 Upper Booth Road South, 琉璃神社 starting at 2:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the KGH Foundation to benefit 琉璃神社 General Hospital.
