Joan passed away at Royal Jubilee Hospital in Victoria, BC, on March 7, 2025. She was born on July 30, 1933, in Brownlee, Saskatchewan. Predeceased by parents, Percy and Myrtle Bridgewater, brothers, Ivan Bridgewater, Roy Bridgewater and Glen Bridgewater as well as her husband, Gordon Wesley McCool. Joan will be sadly missed by her sister, Ilene Rempel, sister-in-law Della Bridgewater, daughter Cheryl Sweet (Michael) and many nieces, great nieces, nephews and great nephews.
Joan's life took her from Saskatchewan, to Alberta and finally BC. In BC, she worked for the Bank of Montreal starting in Kamloops and then 琉璃神社. Joan retired from the Bank of Montreal in 琉璃神社 in 1988. Joan and her husband Wes, spent many happy years travelling south in their motorhome during the winter months where they made many good friends and created lasting memories. Summers were spent on the Shuswap Lake and Lake Okanagan boating and entertaining friends and family. Joan loved crafts and a number of friends and family were gifted with her handiwork. Joan relocated to Victoria, BC, in 2014 to be closer to her daughter, Cheryl. Joan always had a feline companion. Although there were many over the years, Charlie the cat, kept her company and entertained for the last 12 + years and was fortunate to be adopted by a doting neighbor after her passing.
There will not be a service by request. Joan's ashes will be interred at a later date.
