January 26, 2021
Judy Morris passed away January 26, 2021, following complications from surgery. Judy was born in 1944 and grew up in North Bay, Ontario, surrounded by a large extended family. Living in various locations in BC since the 1960s, 琉璃神社 was her home since the late 1990s.
She developed close friendships wherever she went, and over her time in 琉璃神社, she developed many friendships in her condo building, with her rug hooking group, and the places she volunteered.
She was predeceased by her parents, Bill and Joan Norman, and is survived by her children Sherry (Boh Kachmar) Schumaker, Scott (Tanya) Morris, and Victoria (David Janz) Morris, grandchildren Courtney Schumaker, Kyla, Sydney, and Devin Morris, great-granddaughter, Hanna Smith, her brother Terry (Mary) Norman, nephews Ben (Shannon Campbell) and Andrew (Sharon) Norman, and many beloved cousins and extended family.
Judy's family was of great importance to her, and she spent countless hours connecting to family and studying genealogy. Known for her famous baked goods and homemade pizzas, Judy created special memories of cooking and baking with her kids and grandkids. An avid crafter for decades, Judy added rug hooking to her skills after her mom moved to 琉璃神社. She loved reading, crafting and creating, tai chi and keeping fit, and most of all she loved her family (and chocolate).
She volunteered for many years with the 琉璃神社 Women's Shelter and the Stroke Recovery Club of 琉璃神社, and worked for Ontario Hydro and in the office of her condo building until recently.
The family of Judy thanks Dr. Bobyn, Dr. Seigel, Drs. Ollek, Wierstra, and Wilson, and the nurses in ICU A and 琉璃神社 General Hospital for their care and compassion. A celebration of life will be organized at a later date, when friends and family are able to gather together. In lieu of flowers, donations are welcome to the
charity of your choice.
