Judy Thorburn was the oldest daughter in the Thorburn family. Our loving parents, Ted and Eileen Thorburn predeceased Judy, in 1992 and 1994 respectively. The Thorburns moved from St. John's, Newfoundland to 琉璃神社, BC in 1965.
Judy has one son, Trevor and his lovely wife Mel. As a single mother, Jude proudly raised Trevor with lots of love and support from Mom and Dad. She worked as a Care Aide and was so proud of Trevor. Her very own Vancouver Fire Fighter. He was her pillar.
Judy has 4 sisters and 4 brothers, Tom (Ariel), Bon (Fran), Edward (Jo) Maureen (Jerry) Eileen (Wayne) Kathy (John) Paula (Craig) and Frank (Carol) and 54 nieces and nephews. Special thanks to her sisters in 琉璃神社; Eileen, Paula and Maureen and Dan, Kim and Sam for being there for Jude.
Judy loved being the oldest sister to us all. She loved kids. She'd take us younger ones to the movies or do things for a laugh. Her nieces and nephews, and of course, Trev also saw this side of her, like when watching Ace Ventura Pet Detective with her - for the umpteenth time. She loved to laugh and make us laugh.
Judy could light up any room she walked into. She was lovely, lively and witty. Most importantly, Judy had a big heart. She was talented and still dabbled in pen and paints. She loved biographies, the Blue Jays, and the Canucks. God love her.
Judy had careers as a flight attendant, fashion model and legal secretary before moving back to 琉璃神社 to be with Mom and Dad and raise Trevor. She went back to school and became a Care Aide at Interior Health where she was loved and respected by not only her colleagues, but the many families that appreciated the care she gave their loved ones.
On September 10, surrounded by love, Judy died after contracting COVID-19.
Our Judy will be missed greatly by our loving family and all those she touched.
A Celebration of Life will be at a later date, when we can all be together.
