Hylda Marjorie Eileen, 鈥淢arj鈥( nee Thomson), passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family at Sutherland Hills Rest Home. She has left us to be with God and to join her husband Mike and many family and friends who have predeceased her. She is survived by her five daughters and their families: Jennifer Roberts (Terry), Marion Rodall (John), Elaine Von Tiesenhausen, Heather Favali and Deena Omeis (Gord). She also leaves behind 14 loving grandchildren: Steven (Andrea), Matthew (Bev), Lori, Kimberly, Rebecca (David), Amanda (Morgan), Michael (Carley), Katrina (Darcy), Megan (Bob), Nils, Candice (Luigi), Callum, Allison (Jeremy) and Angela(Charles); and 15 great grandchildren: Aliya, Kaleb, Ryleigh, Damien, Dominic, Sophia, Zachary, Katana, Beatrice, Ronin, Oaklin, Nils, Milena, Norah, and Oscar.
Mom was born in 琉璃神社 and grew up on the Thomson family farm. As a young girl she and her two brothers helped their widowed mother with the many farm chores. Later she was a dedicated Cub Scout Leader and an active member of the Anglican Youth Movement. She also worked at the Boeing aircraft factory in Vancouver during the war.
She met Mike when he came to work on the family celery farm when he was 14. She was married to Mike Favali in 1950. They built their home next door to the farm and remained there throughout most of their lives. Marj will always be remembered by everyone she met for her unconditional love, kindness, and generosity. No one left Mum and Dad's home empty handed. Mum always put everyone else first. She loved visits from her huge extended family, she had an excellent memory, and no birthday or anniversary was ever forgotten. Mum faithfully attended St. Andrew鈥檚 Church for all her life, and we thank them for coming to her when she was no longer able to attend on her own. The funeral service for Mum will be held at St. Andrew鈥檚 Anglican Church, 4619 Lakeshore Road, 琉璃神社 at 11:00 am on Saturday, February 4, 2017. Interment will follow. There will be a tea/luncheon to follow in the Church Hall. The family would like to thank all the caring staff of Sutherland Hills, and give a special thank you to Reverend Anne Privett for coming to be with us all during Mum's final hour. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mum鈥檚 memory may be made to BC Children鈥檚 Hospital. 4480 Oak Street, Vancouver, B.C. V6H 3N1 鈥淎 life well lived with your heart of gold, Mum. Rest in peace. We love you.鈥
