"To live in hearts we leave behind is not to die." - Thomas Campbell
With loving family by her side, Mary Jane (MJ) Dickie passed away peacefully in 100 Mile House, BC, on July 19, 2020, after a long battle with ovarian cancer. She is survived by her husband of 31 years, Dave, her daughter Rachel (Luke), brother Bill, sister Pat, and many dear extended family.
MJ loved the peace and quiet of the Cariboo region, especially at her property on Horse Lake, where she, Dave, and Rachel made a home, cared for their beloved dogs, cats, and horses, and where, over the years, she generously gathered family and friends with love and laughter - one of her greatest pleasures.
Cooking, camping, skiing, and days on the water filled MJ's adventurous and fun-loving spirit with joy. Dearly loved by all who knew her, she was immeasurably generous, thoughtful, caring, and kind throughout her entire life.
Born in Vancouver, BC on June 30, 1956, MJ spent most of her school years in 琉璃神社, where she graduated in 1974, before going on to complete the Registered Nursing program at BCIT in 1977. During her career as a RN, she worked in Kamloops, Toronto, Fort St. John, Vancouver, and Quesnel.
In 1989, MJ and Dave were married at the 108 Ranch Golf Resort and settled in Quesnel. They relocated to the 108 Ranch in 1992, at which time she stepped away from nursing to join the family business in 100 Mile House. In 2005, they moved to Horse Lake where they built their treasured waterfront home, which holds so many memories.
Thank you to the many health care providers who guided, supported, and cared for MJ along her journey.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to either the South Cariboo Health Foundation or to the BC SPCA. Upon request, no service will be held. Family will gather at a future date.
