Mike, Skipper, Uncle Micky, passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends after a courageous battle with kidney cancer on Tuesday March 22, 2016
at the age of 61. Mike is lovingly remembered by mother Gertraud; and his siblings, Gabriela (Barry), Frank (Sabine), Wayne, Debby (Allan), Karin (Bryan) and Carla, his children,
Brent (Tanya) and Lara (Matt), past partner and life long friend Judy, nieces and nephews: Jen (Brent), Sarah (Jeremy), Leslie (Chris), Christina, Brandy and Kevin, great nieces and nephews; Kaitlyn, Christian, Julia, Vincent, Connor, grandchildren Keegan and Lilly; and lastly, by his 972 friends on Facebook. Predeceased by his father Alfred, and great niece Kate. Mike worked as a framer and later as a
construction superintendent on numerous projects in the Okanagan. Mike traveled the British Columbia backcountry extensively and had the opportunity to travel to Ontario, and Oak Lake, MB his place of birth this past year with
his mother. Mike was a pivotal member of the Central Okanagan Outdoor Club (hiking). He was an avid outdoorsman and prolific photographer, and an
accomplished gardener. Mike loved to drive and did so right to the end. Mike was a very loving and generous brother, son, stepdad, uncle and friend. A heartfelt thank you to the compassionate and caring nurses of 5B at KGH; Christine, Dr. Mary Wahl and Dr. Wadhwa.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 12 noon, Saturday, May 21st, 2016 at 130 Mail Road 琉璃神社. Cremation, as per Mike's request his ashes will be spread the following day on Little White Mountain. Arrangements entrusted to
