With heavy hearts we are saddened to announce the sudden passing of our youngest son Paul Alban Gerald Berthot on June 23, 2021 near Sicamous BC. He was on his way home when the unfortunate vehicle accident happened. Paul was born in Calgary, Alberta and was 36 years of age. Paul will always be remembered as quiet, loving, loyal gentle soul.
Paul was predeceased by his Grandparents Orville and Lettie Berthot, Uncles: Ken Berthot, Fred Demmon and Ralph Kryvenchuk.
Paul is survived by his parents Jerry and Patti Berthot of Salmon Arm, brother Danny Marriott of 琉璃神社, Sisters Terri Call of Surrey , BC and Tracy Parkinson of Langley, BC. Nephews Hayden, Gavin, Austin, Chase, Myles and Niece Devyn. Grandparents Bob and Wilma Sturgeon of Salmon Arm, and Partner Shannon and her children Brian, Wyatt and Bella.
Paul always had a welcoming smile and cheerful outlook on life and will be greatly missed by all who were fortunate to have known him and to crossed paths with him.
Whenever Paul had a chance he would be would call family and friends to play golf. He loved to play Bingo Bango Bongo for quarters and bragging rights. The driving range was always a contest.
Paul developed a lifelong friendship with his school friends in Calgary. Paul spent many happy hours playing Dungeon's & Dragons and Catan with them. He kept in contact with Sheldon, Anthony and Andrew and when working in Calgary he would stay in contact and visit them often.
Paul was employed by Tru-Line Surveying which did work for both CPRail and CNRail. Under the mentorship of Greg, Paul honed his survey skills as a dedicated proficient surveyor. Paul could be found surveying CPRail tracks, switches, bridges and tunnels from BC to Ontario. He was well respected within the CP Rail community for his thoroughness and dedication to his profession. One of the most proudest days of his Dad's life was when on a CPRail job site, Jerry was introduced as Paul's Dad. The mantel of excellence and respect was passed on to his son. He truly loved his job.
A Celebration of life service will be held from the chapel of Bowers Funeral Home, 440 10th street SW, Salmon Arm on Friday, July 16th at 11 a.m. with Jack Bowers the Funeral Celebrant. Interment will follow in the family plot in Mt. Ida Cemetery, Salmon Arm
