December 6, 1933 - January 17, 2022
It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Robert (Bob)Pearson on Monday, January 17, 2022. Dad was born on Dec 6, 1933, in Aberdeen Scotland, and came to Canada at 8 months of age.
His youth was spent in Winnipeg and Vancouver. He served 5 years in the Canadian Navy from 1957to 1962. It was while he was on leave in Vancouver, he met the love of his life, Barbara. They were married on Sept 10, 1960, and began their life journey together.
They first lived in Victoria and Vancouver and then bought their first house in Richmond BC. It was during this time they started their family, having Kathy, Dan, and Laura. In 1972 they moved their family to 琉璃神社 B.C. It was soon after Dad opened his own store 琉璃神社 Carpet Center.
In 1989 Dan joined Dad and together they worked side by side operating All Kinds of Carpet in 琉璃神社 and then in West 琉璃神社. Dad was well known throughout the carpet business for his honesty and integrity. He loved working, meeting people, and having his own business and retired in 2012 at age 79.
In retirement, Mom and Dad enjoyed golfing, camping, and traveling together until Mom's health began declining and she passed away in 2016. Dad continued to golf and travel, including trips to Yuma and a journey to Scotland to visit his childhood home.
Dad was a man of service and he volunteered countless hours helping others through charity work and sponsoring others. He helped dozens, if not hundreds of people throughout his lifetime. He was a man of principle and lived by the creed of brotherly love, honesty, integrity, and family. He touched many lives and will be missed by so many.
Dad was our rock, mentor, protector and was always in our corner. We knew we could always count on him. His humor was legendary, and he was a great storyteller. If you ever met our dad, it wouldn't be long before you were laughing. He was a man you wouldn't forget.
We are incredibly proud of the life he led and the legacy he left us.
Dad leaves to mourn his daughter Kathy (John) Rigg, son Dan Pearson and daughter Laura Pearson.
He also leaves behind his seven grandchildren, Josh (Carly) Rigg, Candice (Eric) Rigg, Brad (Gillian) Rigg, Kyle Pearson, Keely Pearson, Karli Pearson, Tasia-Raye Dale (Nick), and three great-grandchildren, Kerrigan Rigg, Linkin Rigg, and Raine Helland.
A closed memorial service will be held Friday, February 4th at 1 pm. The family deeply regrets that due to covid restrictions it can not be an open service. A webcast link will be available by visiting everdenrust.com
We are hoping to hold an outside celebration of life in the spring. In lieu of flowers, donations would gratefully be accepted in his name to the Shriners Children Hospital. A cause that was near and dear to him and that he worked tirelessly for.
